EXTRA ACTIVITIES

Swans offers a wide range of after school activities, run by Swans' teachers and outside specialists. The programme may vary slightly but normally includes the following:

Football

Mr Mick has been involved with extra football at Swans for many years. Boys and girls from Year 1 to Year 6 participate in sessions after school either from 4.15 to 5 p.m. or from 5 to 5.45 p.m. These groups are organised according to age. The sessions introduce and develop ball skills and involve small side games, with the emphasis on participation and enjoyment. Most of the footballers from Year 4 upwards become involved in playing football for the school teams in games with other schools. Players in Year 5 and 6 are able to play in the Marbella Delegacion de Deportes leagues and competitions usually held in the Spring and Summer terms.

Cricket

This has been a popular activity for many years for children of 8 years or more. The emphasis is on the development of fielding, batting and bowling skills, participation and enjoyment. To facilitate this the sessions are based on Kwik Cricket, Mr Mick being one of the instigators of this exciting game here on the Costa del Sol. When possible games are organised with other schools and competitions entered.

Basketball

Since Don Miguel introduced basketball into the school it has become a very popular activity. Children learn to play this fast moving and skilful game. In year 6 we play in the Marbella Delegacion de Deportes league.

Other physical activities offered vary according to current staffing and can include: rounders, circuit training, yoga and various forms of dance. Art and Craft, sewing, chess, board games and conversation classes have all been offered at different times over the last few years.

Extra activity computers is designed to reinforce and extend what the children learn in class and is always on the programme. Señora Inmaculada runs a weekly Catholic class which prepares the children for their first communion.

Supervised homework (at class teacher's recommendation), Spanish and English conversation, French for French speakers, Arabic, German and music lessons are also on the programme.
