Swans is an international primary school located just outside the centre of Marbella. It has been on the same site since 1971, operating under the headship of its owner and founder, Tessa Swan. What started as a few children and one teacher in a room of a house has developed into a modern, 300 strong primary school with 2 parallel classes in each year group from Early Years to Year 6.
Swans’ motto is “Constancy and Truth”, as in the past swans were believed to possess these qualities. Swans' philosophy is that children are individuals and need to be treated as such and “Nhil sin laborum”- nothing without hard work!
The above are reflected in Swans' educational policy, which is rigorous and sets an excellent academic standard.
Our aims can be encompassed in the following statements:
- to create a stimulating child centred environment, promoting high levels of achievement in academic and non-academic areas;
- to enable children to reach their full potential through the provision of a broad and balanced curriculum encompassing a variety of teaching and learning strategies;
- to develop a love of learning;
- to promote an ethos where all members of the school community know they are valued and where they are actively encouraged to show care, respect and tolerance.
We have high expectations of our pupils and aim to provide them with a quality education that is relevant to their lives today and that will prepare them for a future in an ever changing world.
Swans is an international primary school, offering an English curriculum alongside the opportunity to follow the full Spanish primary course in language and humanities. We encourage language learning at Swans and offer weekly classes in French from Year 4 upwards along with extra curricular classes in French (for French speakers), Arabic and German.
