The school offers a broad and balanced curriculum, which is delivered in English and based on the National Curriculum taught in England. We use a combination of subject teaching and topic based study which our experience has shown works best.

In the Foundation Stage we have Early Years and Reception classes. In Early Years the main aim is for the children to enjoy themselves, learning through play and a multi-topic approach. They are in a self-contained classroom setting with an English teacher, a Spanish assistant and a further English assistant in the mornings. In Reception the focus is on personal and social development, helping the children to become more independent. Lessons are topic based and involve many practical activities. During the year the children make a start on reading and writing with a focus on phonics; early numeracy skills start to be developed.

In Key Stage 1 the core subjects are Numeracy and Literacy. Science, Information Technology, Humanities (History and Geography), Art and Craft, Music and Physical Education complete the curriculum.

In Key Stage 2 the core subjects are Numeracy, Literacy and Science. The other subjects continue from Key Stage 1 and French is taught throughout the key stage.

NFER testing is in use throughout Key Stage 1 and 2; this is a diagnostic form of testing which helps teachers pinpoint specific problems and also gives us a benchmark from which we can ensure our standards are maintained.

Information Technology is taught throughout the primary school and the use of computers is incorporated into other subjects.

Children who need extra help with English are catered for in TEFL groups where lessons are planned around the individual needs of the children involved. Lessons will normally include verbal, grammatical and written skills.
